March Project Progress

March was a fantastic month for diving into those projects that had been patiently waiting for attention. With longer days and the promise of spring, creativity flourished as colors brightened up my crafting spaces. Quilting projects laid out under the warm sunlight begged for new progress, while my sewing machine hummed happily with a rhythm unique to each stitch. It was the perfect time to wrap up loose ends and turn those ideas into tangible treasures, bringing joy to my crafting heart!

The moment I sat down with my fabric and thread, a wave of excitement surged through me. My fingers tingled with anticipation as I threaded the needle, ready to transform a simple piece of cloth into something magical. The rhythmic motion of stitching engulfed me, each pull of the thread sparking joy and creativity. I could hardly contain my enthusiasm as I envisioned the pattern finally coming to life. Every stitch felt like a celebration, and I knew this session would be one for the books!

So, let’s check in and see how March measured up for my March Projects of the Month!

March 2025:

  • Scrappiness is Happiness - quilting

    • did not finish - 9 blocks started previously, finished 9 more blocks

Let’s take a look at the blocks I had previously finished:

  • Buzzy Bee Block

  • Chex Mix Block

  • Criss Cross Star Block

  • Happy Trails Block

  • Large Mushroom Block

  • Plaid Block

  • Santa Hat Block

  • Small Mushroom Block

  • Tall Pumpkin Block (it’s tall and skinny - the photo gallery wants to make it square)

Now let’s check out the blocks I finished in March:

  • Apple Block

  • Blossom Block (please ignore the slight staining on this one - our kitten, Kat, got into some pizza sauce and then frolicked in my stack of blocks before I could catch her. But with a face that cute, can you really be mad for long?)

  • Large Checkerboard Block

  • Scrap Apple Block

  • Scrappy Crossroads Block

  • Second Lincoln Logs Block

  • Shortcut Star Block

  • Spare Squares Block

  • Twinkle Twinkle Scrappy Star Block

I was making really great progress, until I got to one of the harder blocks of this quilt along, a scrappy string block. It required some sew-in interfacing (recommended product by the designer, Lori Holt), and I had to wait for my order to arrive. Alas, the month is over and it’s time to pick a new project to focus on in April. At least I will be prepared for the next time I pull this unfinished project out to work on it!

And now, on to my cross stitch project progress!

  • Love Note

    • did not finish

I didn’t finish. I did, however, make quite a bit of progress on this project. See my before and after photos below:

With my Stanley full of Coke Zero by my side, I settled into my cozy corner, my favorite YouTubers playing in the background. As my needle danced through the fabric, I tackled the center envelope of my cross-stitch piece with a delightful rhythm. The repetitive motion of filling in stitches became almost meditative, allowing my mind to wander while my hands worked tirelessly. Each x-shaped stitch filled in the gaps, transforming the blank canvas into a colorful masterpiece. Before I knew it, I had completed the entire section, the pastel Valentine’s colors blending beautifully and giving life to my creation. Every stitch was like a little victory, making the journey all the more satisfying!

I still have multiple borders to complete, but progress is progress!
