May Project of the Month
Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs when you least expect it, and unfortunately, my April projects took a backseat due to a flurry of unexpected events. Between juggling family commitments, tending to household chaos, my full-time job, and the occasional surprise visit from a mischievous cat, my crafting ambitions have been sidelined. I had all these grand plans for sewing and quilting, but instead, I found myself living in the moment, embracing the delightful unpredictability that life sometimes brings. So, as much as I would love to report substantial progress, it seems my sewing machine has been collecting dust instead. Here's to hoping for a more productive May!
For May, The Quilted Forest (go check out her YouTube) picked project #9 for our project to work on this month. For me, that means I’m going to attempt to make some progress on the Haunted Halloween Mystery Quilt Along from Fat Quarter Shop from 2023!!
Back in 2023, I bought the quilt kit - and the cross stitch kit - to complete both the quilt and cross stitch patterns. While the cross stitch project is not my focus this month, I’m happy to report that I’m about halfway on that one - even though it’s been a while since I’ve picked it up to work on!
The quilt kit, however, is still untouched and the pattern is printed in color and ready to go. Since this project is my focus this month, here's to summoning the spirits of creativity as I tackle this project, one stitch at a time!
For my cross stitch project this month, the random number generator chose Project #6 for me: Sunflower Fields from 2022.
I have everything I need to complete the stitching all gathered in one bag: the pattern (I just love how Stitching with the Housewives finished theirs! [photo on left]), my floss, scissors, needle, and stitching so far. You can see I really only have the sunflowers, the banner, and a couple of little birds to do and this piece will be finished!
I’m hoping to finish this project soon because I really need a win. Completing this project would give me the motivation to dive back into my pile of half-finished projects with renewed enthusiasm. Fingers crossed, this will be the turning point that gets me back on the creative track!
And because it’s been a few months, let’s revisit my list of projects for 2025.
